New Features and Engine
We’ve just released a new version of our tools service:
The engine powering the tools service has been completely rewritten. Now, the refresh of the data on the website is four seconds by default; by clicking constantly on the ‘Next refresh in…’ reduces the time in between refreshes. This way you can ensure not to miss important information.

Smoother FX Heatmap and enhanced price curve
The major changes have been regarding the FX Signals:
- We added a user defined field ‘Label’ that allows you to give your signals a name. This label is displayed in the subject of the email you receive and makes spotting information even quicker.
- We have extended the options to chose from: you can now filter for certain directions (up, down or both), filter more accurately for certain overshoots, chose to receive signals repeatedly and chose whether to receive signals by email or just see them on the website.
- Although we believe in our intrinsic time signals, we also believe that traders want to be alerted when the price crosses a certain level. That’s why we added the price target signals.

New signal: get an alert if price triggers a certain level
As you might have seen, the coloring of the FX Heatmap is smoother now. This is because we not only classify the market’s state by an integer (OS = 1, 2, 3, …) but by a float (OS = 2.334). Furthermore, the price curve has been enhanced: it now depicts both bid and ask price and has an enhanced appearance.
On a side note: we have been added to the signal providers suggested by myfxbook.com. If you are a user of that website, a rating of our service would be appreciated.
We’d love to hear what you think about the changes and the service as a whole by email or in the community.
Premium Subscription Going Live
We’re happy to announce our first update to the Olsen Trading Tools.
After a few weeks in which everyone could use the real time service for free, we now introduce a promotional pricing as follows: 1 month subscription will cost 25$ (instead of 35$), 6 months will cost 130$ (instead of 182$) and to use the Olsen Trading Tools in real time for a year you pay 250$ (instead of 350$). If you have already signed up, you can use the real time service until the end of July.

Promotion for real time tools
If you have already signed up to the FX Signals, you so far received emails from the following sender: invest@olsen.ch; we changed this to fxsignals@olsen.ch to make the sender more meaningful. For a quicker read of what information the email will contain (i.e. what the alert is about), we changed also the subject line of the email to e.g. AUD_USD +3 T4 @ 1.07391. This subject line tells you that in AUD/USD there has been an overshoot of strength 3 (or trendiness 3) on threshold T4=0.4% at a (mid)price of 1.07391. This way e.g. when using an email client on a mobile phone there is no need to open the email itself anymore. This should make it more convenient for you to use the FX Signals alert emails.
The default FX Heatmap shown on the main website will be the so-called FXX Heatmap. This specific heatmap combines the heat bars from the most important currency pairs. Be aware that currency pairs are not normalized to relate to the same base currency as is the case for all other heatmaps. Therefore, the aggregated trend indicator does not make much sense, and is therefore set to n/a.

FXX Heatmap
Last but not least, as a first effort to include social media, we have added a Twitter button so you can easily Twitter about special FX Heatmap states (e.g. by using the Permalink provided). There is also already a Facebook Fanpage, not yet too populated.
Stay tuned, more content will follow.

Olsen Trading Tools v1 Released
We’re thrilled to announce our latest development which combines many of the fundamental ideas and methodologies that apply in our trading models. We make the tools accessible to everyone as the Olsen Trading Tools.

The FX Heatmap for the USD crosses
The Olsen Trading Tools help you to identify the pulse of the market. To be a successful trader you need identify the beat of the market. The price action, in particular the price reversals are the market events that are the pulse of the market and reflect the market’s intrinsic time ticks. You should only trade, when actually something is happening in the market. Our service provides you with this information.
We give you an overview of the market’s current state and past price action with the FX Heatmap and offer you the FX Signals – which you can sign up for – these are price signals of the pace of the market.
The FX Heatmap gives you a quick overview of the trendiness in terms of how far the price has moved from the previous high or low, and volatility of the market. Light colors (or a light color bank) signify a calm environment, dark colors indicate big price moves from the last extreme. If you click on the map an image of the evolution to the current state/price appears. The visualization makes it easy to understand the basic concepts of how the market moves. Read more on the FX Heatmap FAQ page.

Signals for EURUSD and CADJPY for all thresholds
The FX Signals is designed to improve the timing of your trades: be it to establish, close or manage your position. The FX Signals give you an indication of the appropriate timing. Choose your preferred threshold (i.e. time scale), short-term traders should use the low thresholds, for example 0.1% to long term trading at a threshold of 1.6%. The signals tell you, when the market moves (up or down happen) and the degree to which the market move has been exaggerated and are good trading opportunities. Read more on the FX Heatmap FAQ page.
A simplified version of the Scale of Market Quakes is also part of the tool box as well as a simplified economic calendar that shows you the last news that happened and the four upcoming news.
Just one word of caution: trading requires a lot of discipline and patience. So do not rush into positions.
